Sunrise Bank

Top of Mind Awareness

Sunrise Bank is a growing financial company with properties in three states. It emphasizes delivering a level of service many customers find missing in large, national chains. In 2010, Sunrise Bank asked SignArt to furnish a complete re-branding and sign installation for 31 locations spread through Michigan, Arizona and Indiana. Working with local contractors and fabricators in each state, SignArt completed most of the new signs in just one week. Extensive research and planning before construction ensured a sign developed for maximum visibility and effectiveness in the heat. SignArt produced a consistent identity and applied it at each location.

Project Details

Phase 1: Design & Consultation
SignArt focused initial designs on maximizing visibility from the point of view of traffic and pedestrians. In designing the signs, SignArt drew inspiration by the architectural elements of the buildings. Concerns about visibility and size were discredited by intricate and detailed models presented to Sunrise Bank. SignArt locally sourced fabrication of the sign using companies near the location. A SignArt project leader and installation supervisor monitored the project at the location.

Phase 2: Permit Procurement
Installing the stunning arched sign above Sunrise Bank’s towering Mesa, Arizona building required close cooperation with the local government. SignArt secured lane closures for specific construction days and permits to use a 125-foot crane to lift the sign into place. The process involved negotiating with the building’s landlord and working with the Mesa Board of Special Adjustments to achieve electrical, zoning and sign variances.

Phase 3: Fabrication
The sign produced for Sunrise Bank were locally fabricated in Kalamazoo. SignArt removed and disposed of the existing channel letters, patching the holes with acrylic caulk. The old letters were replaced with new LED face-lit channel letters with flat SG-100 clear Lexan faces overlaid with a black/white 3M Dual-Color film. A diffuser vinyl was applied to the a second surface. The LED lighting systems were ventilated to accommodate the hot Mesa climate.

Phase 4: Installation
With Sunrise Bank’s approval of the design, a SignArt project leader and installation supervisor monitored the installation. Permission to close traffic lanes in front of the building was granted and a 125-foot crane lifted the sign in place. Towering high atop Sunrise Bank’s Mesa building, the arching sign stands out while complimenting the surrounding environment.
